ABOUT AMY: Who is Amy?

Amy Binder jumped off the corporate ladder in 2000 and started AMY INK to provide Fresh Thinking, Effective Writing to business clients around the world. She now leverages the expertise gained over many years in corporate communication—including VP spots at two global companies—with the changing rules of today’s social media.

She has spent most of her career in the Philadelphia/Wilmington area, where she managed internal and external communication functions at Hercules Incorporated (now Ashland Inc.), ARCO Chemical (now Lyondell Chemical Company), Bell Atlantic (now Verizon), and Marketpac International, then a subsidiary of American International Group.

During her seven years with Hercules, first as director and then as vice president of corporate communications, she was the speechwriter for the chairman and senior executives, annual report editor, company spokesperson, and communication advisor to internal departments and the company's first internet/intranet websites.

Her work has earned recognition from the International Association of Business Communicators, the International ARC Awards, Speechwriter's Newsletter, and The Executive Speaker. She was an invited speaker at Sid Cato's last International Annual Report Conference, in San Antonio, talking about "Finding your voice: creating a distinctive personality...on paper."

Originally from Red Bank, N.J., Amy received a bachelor's degree in communication from Glassboro State (now Rowan University), N.J., and a master's degree in educational media from Temple University in Philadelphia.
